1. Booking & Payment

 

Full payment is required at the time of booking to confirm your hire.

Bookings are only confirmed once payment has been received in full.

Payments are generally non-refundable unless otherwise agreed by Medders Boat Hire.

 

2. Age Requirements

 

The lead person booking and responsible for the boat must be at least 18 years old.

Identification will be requested on arrival.

 

3. Hire Period

 

Boats are hired for day use only and must be returned by the agreed time.

Additional charges will apply for late returns, set out at £30 for any late return starting 15 minutes after the return time has lapsed.

 

4. Equipment Provided

 

Each hire includes:

Life jackets for all passengers (must be worn at all times)

Paddles

Waterproof pouch

Laminated map of the waterways, areas, cruise times and a "How to " for using the locks.

Optional extras:

Selected fishing equipment may be available but this will be updated on the website.

 

5. Boat Use, Safety & Suitability

 

Boats are open and powered by a small electric motor.

The hirer is responsible for safe operation at all times.

Do not exceed the maximum passenger capacity of the boat.

Alcohol or drugs must not be consumed while operating the boat.

Accessibility: Due to the open design of our boats, they may not be suitable for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility. Please contact Medders Boat Hire to discuss individual requirements before booking.

 

6. Responsibility & Liability

 

The hirer is responsible for the boat, equipment, and all passengers during the hire period.

Any damage, loss, or theft must be reported immediately and may incur charges.

Personal belongings are brought on board at the hirer’s own risk.

Medders Boat Hire is not liable for personal injury or loss unless caused by proven negligence.

 

7. Weather & Conditions

 

Medders Boat Hire reserves the right to cancel or delay bookings if conditions are unsafe.

In such cases, an alternative date or refund may be offered. 

 

8. Changes & Cancellations

 

Any changes to bookings are subject to availability.

Cancellation requests are at the discretion of Medders Boat Hire.

 

9. Behaviour

 

Unsafe, reckless, or inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated.

Medders Boat Hire reserves the right to end a hire without refund if necessary.

 

10. Before Hire

 

All adult participants must sign the hire agreement upon arrival before taking the boat. A responsible adult must sign on behalf of anyone under 18 years of age.

By signing the hire agreement, each named participant confirms:

Agreement with the terms and conditions of Medders Boat Hire

Understanding and acceptance of the risks involved in boat hire and operation

Confirmation that all relevant safety instructions have been received

Hirers booking via telephone or email are deemed to have read, understood, and accepted these terms and conditions.

 

11. Agreement

 

By booking with Medders Boat Hire, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to all these terms and conditions.
